Backstory - Warning: Spoiler Alert!

Verik is a wise and kind-hearted old demon that used to have a high place in King Varus' court. He's a well-learned demon, well-versed in magic and knowing a bit of alchemy, though it is not his strong point. He also taught what he could to his pupils, Prince Drogan and Ivan. The old Ruskovin has been working for decades to decipher and translate the Book of Belial, hoping to uncover the long forgotten truths of the past. Fifty years ago he had taken a lowly barrack wife to be his lover and true wife; such an act was illegal in Ruskov since barrack wives were the lowest of the low in the slave hierarchy. One day Trishka had been beaten nearly to death, but was kept alive and treated by Akai. After that traumatic event, Verik became a part of Akai's rebellion. He was then exiled from Ruskov, fleeing with Trishka to Ferali where they would be safe and free to love one another without fear. The couple went on to have five children, all of whom are free from the noose of slavery. Currently Verik is in Beseine working with Iruka, having the slave do various tasks to help gain valuable information on slave trade in Beseine. Down the road he will help Iruka escape Beseine and adopt the breeder into his own family.
